Product Introduction
Manufacturing process: carbon fiber molding process
Carbon fiber molding process is an efficient composite molding method:
First, the process principle
Carbon fiber molding is the carbon fiber prepreg (carbon fiber material pre-impregnated with resin) or a mixture of carbon fiber and resin placed in a closed mold, which is cured by heat and pressure. Under the action of pressure and temperature, the resin flows and fully wets the carbon fiber, while a chemical reaction takes place to change from a liquid to a solid state, thus fixing the carbon fiber into the desired shape.

Second, the process flow
1. Material preparation
Carbon fiber material selection: carbon fiber prepreg can be selected. Parameters such as the resin content in the prepreg and the orientation of the carbon fiber will affect the performance of the final product. For example, unidirectional prepregs are mainly used in directions that require higher strength and stiffness, while bidirectional or multidirectional prepregs provide more balanced performance.
Resin system determination: according to the use of the product environment and performance requirements to choose the appropriate resin, such as epoxy resin has good mechanical properties and chemical resistance, phenolic resin has better flame retardant. At the same time, the amount of resin should be precisely controlled to ensure the best ratio of carbon fiber to resin.
Mold preparation
Mold design: Mold shape and structure should be designed according to the shape and size of the product. The mold needs to have sufficient strength and accuracy to withstand the pressure during the molding process and ensure the dimensional accuracy of the product. For example, for products with complex shapes, it may be necessary to adopt a multi-cavity mold or a mold with a special release mechanism.
Mold cleaning and application of release agent: Before use, the mold should be thoroughly cleaned to remove impurities and residues. Then coated with release agent, which can facilitate the release of the product, and release agent can also prevent the product and the mold adhesion, to ensure the surface quality of the product. Commonly used release agents are silicone, wax and so on.

Layering operation
Cutting carbon fiber material: according to the size of the mold and the thickness of the product, the carbon fiber prepreg is cut to the appropriate shape and size. During the cutting process, attention should be paid to avoid damage to carbon fibers and try to maintain the continuity of the fibers.
Layering method: Put the cut carbon fiber prepreg into the mold according to the designed layering sequence. The layup sequence will affect the mechanical properties of the product, for example, for products subjected to bending loads, prepreg is usually placed in the outer layer with the direction of the fiber and the direction of the force to improve the bending strength. Care should also be taken to avoid wrinkles and bubbles during the layering process to ensure a tight fit between each layer.
Closing and pressing
- Mold closing: The mold will be laid with carbon fiber material to close the mold, the mold closing process to ensure that the mold is completely closed to prevent resin overflow during the molding process. At the same time, to check the sealing performance of the mold, a good seal can ensure the stability of the molding pressure.
- Pressing: Pressure is applied by press and other equipment, and the pressure is determined according to the size, shape and material characteristics of the product. The general pressure range is between a few megapascals and tens of megapascals. At the same time, the mold is heated, and the heating temperature also depends on the curing system of the resin, usually around 100-200 ° C. During the pressing process, the resin flows and cures under the action of pressure and temperature.

Curing and stripping
Curing process: Maintain a certain time at a set temperature and pressure to allow the resin to fully cure. The curing time is generally determined according to the type of resin and the thickness of the product, ranging from a few minutes to several hours. For example, epoxy resins may take 1-2 hours to fully cure at around 120 ° C.
Stripping: After the product is cured, open the mold and remove the molded carbon fiber product from the mold. The demoulding process should be handled carefully to avoid damaging the product.
Post-processing
Finishing processing: the edge dressing and surface polishing of the product after stripping are carried out to remove excess materials and burrs, so that the appearance and size of the product meet the requirements.
Quality testing: Using non-destructive testing methods (such as ultrasonic testing, X-ray testing) or mechanical properties testing (such as tensile strength testing, bending strength testing) to check the quality of the product to ensure that the product meets the design requirements.
