Forming process of carbon fiber fender die: carbon fiber forming process of autoclave

The autoclave carbon fiber molding process is an important process for manufacturing high-quality carbon fiber composite components:

First, the process principle of carbon fiber fender mould
The autoclave molding process is to lay the prepreg (carbon fiber preimpregnated resin) on the mold according to the design requirements, and then place it into the autoclave. In the autoclave, by applying high temperature and high pressure at the same time, the resin flows and fully infiltrates the carbon fiber, and the carbon fiber composite material products with excellent properties are formed after curing reaction.

Second, the process flow of carbon fiber fender mould
1. Prepare the mold

  • The quality of the mold is critical to the shape and dimensional accuracy of the final product. First of all, the mold must be cleaned to ensure that the surface is free of impurities, oil and so on.
  • Release agent can be applied on the surface of the mold to facilitate the smooth release of the molded product. For example, the commonly used release agent is silicone rubber release agent, which can form a layer of isolation film between the mold and the product to prevent the product from sticking to the mold.

2. Prepreg layer

  • Cut the prepreg to the appropriate shape and size according to the mechanical properties and structural design of the product. The prepreg comes in two forms: one-way tape and fabric. Unidirectional strip prepregs are mainly used for areas that bear unidirectional loads, while fabric prepregs are suitable for complex shapes and areas requiring isotropic properties.
  • Lay the prepreg on the mold in the predetermined layup sequence. During the layup process, attention should be paid to the direction and Angle of each layer of prepreg to ensure the accuracy of the layup. For example, in the manufacture of aerospace structural parts, the error of the layup Angle may affect the strength and stiffness of the part.

3. Vacuum package

  • Vacuum packaging of the prepreg is required after layup. This is to remove air and volatiles from the layup, while allowing the prepreg to fit tightly to the mold during the hot pressing process.
  • The lay-up is usually covered with a vacuum bag film and sealed by sealing strips. Then use the vacuum pump to pump the vacuum bag into a vacuum state, the general vacuum degree to reach about -0.09MPa.

4. Autoclave curing

  • Place the encapsulated mold into the autoclave. Autoclaves provide a uniform temperature and pressure environment. The curing temperature is generally between 120-180 ° C, and the specific temperature depends on the resin system. For example, the curing temperature.

5. Demoulding and post-processing

  • After curing, when the autoclave is cooled, the product is removed from the autoclave and then unmolded. The released product may require some post-treatment, such as machining (cutting, drilling, etc.) to achieve the final dimensional accuracy requirements, or surface treatment (painting, grinding, etc.) to improve appearance and protective properties.

Three, the advantages of the process

1. High product quality
o Autoclave can provide a uniform temperature and pressure field, so that the resin in the carbon fiber infiltration is more uniform, the cured composite material internal porosity is low, excellent mechanical properties. For example, the fiber volume content of its products can be precisely controlled and can reach about 60%-70%, thus ensuring the high strength and high modulus of the product.

2. Strong ability to form complex shape products
o Due to the good flexibility of prepreg, through reasonable layup design, it is possible to manufacture a variety of complex shapes of products, such as wings, fuselage and other structural parts in the aerospace field.

3. Good repeatability of product performance
o As long as the process parameters (temperature, pressure, time, etc.) are strictly controlled, it is possible to produce stable performance and consistent quality products, which is very important for mass production of high-quality carbon fiber composite products.

4. Application field
The carbon fiber forming process of autoclave is mainly used in aerospace, automobile industry, sports equipment and other fields. In the aerospace field, such as the manufacture of structural components such as aircraft wings and fuselages, light weight and high strength components can be manufactured using this process to meet the high performance requirements of aerospace vehicles. In the automotive industry, components used to build high-performance vehicles, such as body frames, can improve vehicle performance and fuel economy.

In terms of sports equipment, such as advanced carbon fiber bicycle frames, golf clubs, etc., are also manufactured by this process, which can provide good mechanical properties and comfortable use experience.
