1.High precision requirements
The appearance quality and dimensional accuracy of car bumpers are very high. SMC auto bumper mold needs to accurately shape complex curved surfaces and various mounting holes, fasteners and other structures. For example, the bumper nsurface of some high-end cars needs to achieve a mirror effect, which requires the surface roughness of the mold cavity to be extremely low, and the error in dimensional accuracy should be controlled within a very small range, and the general dimensional tolerance should reach ± 0.1-0.3mm or so.
2.Complex structure design
In order to meet the functional and installation needs of car bumpers, the mold structure is often complex. It may contain multiple sliding blocks, sloping tops, and other mechanisms. Mold design stage
- The first is product analysis, according to the specific shape, size and functional requirements of the car bumper, using 3D modeling software (such as UG, CATIA, etc.) for digital modeling of the product. In the modeling process, to consider the product wall thickness distribution uniformity, the general SMC car bumper wall thickness between 2.5-4mm, to ensure the strength of the product and forming quality.
- Then the mold structure design, determine the parting surface, gate location, cooling system and other key elements. The selection of parting surface should consider the appearance quality of the product and the ease of demoulding, the gate location will affect the filling effect of the material, and the cooling system has a great impact on the molding cycle and quality of the product. For example, a reasonable cooling system can make the product cool evenly, reduce shrinkage deformation, shorten the molding cycle, and improve production efficiency.
Mold manufacturing stage
- Machining of mold materials, usually using CNC machining centers for milling, drilling and other processing operations. For some complex surfaces and high-precision dimensions, multiple roughing and finishing are required. For example, when machining the mold cavity, roughing can quickly remove a large amount of material, and finishing is used to ensure the accuracy and surface quality of the surface, and the processing accuracy can reach about 0.01mm.
- Mold assembly and debugging is the key link. During the assembly process, it is necessary to ensure the installation accuracy of each part, such as the matching gap between the slider and the guide rail to be controlled within the appropriate range, generally 0.03-0.05mm, to ensure the smooth movement of the slider and no leakage. When debugging, it is necessary to test the mold, observe the filling of SMC material in the mold, the molding quality of the product, etc., and adjust the mold according to the test result, such as adjusting the injection pressure, pressure holding time, cooling time and other parameters.
