Compression molding molds usually use hydraulic presses, and the upper and lower parts of the mold are fixed on the press. The mold includes a cavity core, which is the same as an injection mold. The trial material is placed on the opened mold, and then the press is closed. The set temperature and pressure generated by the press melt the raw material into the cavity of the mold.
The test materials for this type of mold are usually SMC, BMC, GMT. Therefore, we often refer to such molds as SMC molds, BMC molds, GMT molds, and so on.
The mold heating system is currently divided into an electric heating system and a mold oil heating system. Now the market has higher and higher requirements for SMC products, and the advantages of the mold oil heating system are slowly being reflected.
The mold oil heating system is also called the oil circulation temperature control machine, which has uniform and stable temperature, and can control the mold surface temperature at ±1℃ or even more accurately. At present, the temperature of SMC mold is automatically controlled by the computer chip of the oil temperature machine, and the temperature control accuracy is ±1℃. The oil temperature machine adopts a formed pipeline with low resistance, and the equipment has automatic exhaust function and air blowing and oil return function. When changing the mold, the heat transfer oil inside the mold can be automatically blown back into the oil temperature machine to effectively reduce the waste and time of oil. The docking of the mold oil passage and the oil temperature controller adopts self-closing quick coupling, which is very convenient to connect and remove, and it can be completed in tens of seconds.
However, when the traditional heating tube is used for heating, or when the local temperature is too low, the material is not fully cooked, the surface of the product is partially dark and dull, and the surface of the product looks flowery. Since the electric heating rod is easy to burn out, and it is not easy to be found after burnout, if the surface temperature of the mold is not checked frequently, it is easy to produce batches of waste.
As a stable heating method, the compression molding SMC mold oil heating system has been widely used in the compression molding of FRP, carbon fiber, and aramid fiber reinforced composite materials, and RTM liquid molding.
