Materials and Processes

Material Selection

 

Common Plastics: Polypropylene (PP) and its modified materials are mostly used. For example, PP + EPDM (terpolymer of ethylene propylene diene monomer) can enhance the elasticity and aging resistance of the door panel, while PP + glass fiber materials can increase the mechanical strength of the parts. Additionally, plastics such as acrylonitrile - butadiene - styrene copolymer (ABS) are also used.

 

Manufacturing Process

 

Injection Molding: This is the most commonly used molding process for automotive door panel plastic parts. It has the advantages of high production efficiency, high precision, and the ability to form complex shapes.

 

• Blow Molding: The plastic sheet is heated to become soft, and then it is adhered to the mold surface through vacuum suction or pressure difference. After cooling, it is formed. This method is suitable for manufacturing some door panel plastic parts with relatively simple shapes and low strength requirements.

 

• Hot Molding: The plastic sheet is heated to a softened state, and pressure is applied in the mold to form it. This process can be used to manufacture large and complex-shaped door panel plastic parts.
